Straight from the horse's mouth,
her friends, they're mine.
They can't keep her at bay.
I don't shave, I'm jonesing
to feel ok forever,
or at least for one more day.
I kissed my better half goodbye.
Rest and reside
in the sockets of her eyes,
teeth to chin, dim the lights.
"Don't bite into my face",
she said, unsmiling,
with a shimmery grace.
It's been too long,
she's too far gone.
When did we go wrong?
"You have been replaced",
with a shimmery grace.
Daggers drawn,
all along.

I cannot think, I cannot dream,
all this sleep has done me in,
you can read it on my skin.
You took the words straight from my lips,
walked all over me with comely feet,
let's not talk next time we meet.
I'm running backwards like you wouldn't believe,
after each kiss I recount my teeth,
you can read it on my skin.
Take your shot,
I'm out of rocks,
I'm out of trust,
there's just not enough,
sometimes.
(The sharpest daggers reflect the brightest lights)
Let me take you on a trip,
through the pipe dreams and the Styx.
The jaunt will do you in,
they will read it on your
skin,
skin,
skin.

Wait Until Spring, Boy

Unmade beds are all the rage,
like kissing bricks and writing names,
like tongues with a bad taste,
like the end of days.
It all happened too soon,
now it's raining and weighing
down on our roof.
I just can't compete with you;
I'm jet black,
you're coral blue.
I think I understand,
we can't seem to face the fact
that we're just growing up too fast.
So here I am, I followed suit,
came running back
just like I guess you knew I would.
The blood red stain
and in my head my name
and the sound of "I failed her",
it sounds so familiar.
This keeps fucking up my life,
but I guess that's fine.
My vices will keep me company
until I use my teeth to see
how thick a human skin can be.
